Using Get Default, Set Default and Apply All Buttons

The following tutorial will show you how to use the Set Default, Get Default and Apply All buttons to quickly insert images into your menu. To get started, click your extension's icon to open it and follow along by accessing the PluginLab panel in MX2004, MX6.

1. Inserting Images

Find the image insertion area in the menu extension you are working with. You should see Normal Image, Over Image and Down Image fields and their folder icons.

Insert images into the first menu button by entering normal, over and down images by either typing in the path or by clicking the icon to browse and insert the appropriate one.

Alternate image states are optional.

When inserting images, remember to select either Relative To 'Document' or 'Site' to ensure the path is entered correctly. Read about document-relative and site root-relative paths in Dreamweaver help files. See also our Defining a Site in Dreamweaver tutorial.

2. Set Default

Click to make the images inserted in Step 1 the default image set. All three states will be 'remembered.'

Next, click the button to add a new entry. Each button added automatically has the default images inserted.

Flyouts:

In the image flyout menus, make a second level flyout by adding a button and moving it to the right.

Change the flyout images by inserting new normal, over and down states.

Click to make these images the new default image set. Each new button added will now automatically have the default images inserted.

To see and change the Default Images, go to Buttons Tab > Default Button Settings. There you can see the Normal, Mouseover and Mousedown images and the default size.

Once you have set the default images, you may apply them to other buttons in one of two ways:

3. Get Default

"Get Default" is the best way to apply the default images to one button at a time.

Click to select a button in the tree you wish to apply the default images to, then click to instantly apply them.

Three images will be inserted in one click.

4. Apply All"

Apply All" is the best way to apply the default images to all buttons in a level at once.

Click to select a button in the tree you wish to apply the default images to, and click to instantly apply the 3 default images to all buttons in the main menu or flyout level selected.

Repeat this step for each level, by selecting one button in the level and clicking .

If, after applying the Default images, you have manually inserted images into any button, clicking Apply All on this level again will apply the Default images to all buttons except the one that was manually changed.

This built-in intelligence allows manual changes to always stay as they are. Later, if desired, you can apply defaults to these buttons with "Get Default".
